The Hotel

Located in the heart of Turin, Hotel Roma e Rocca Cavour occupies a historic mid-19th-century building overlooking one of the city’s most elegant squares: Piazza Carlo Felice, built in 1861 and dedicated to Carlo Felice of Savoy.

Just a short walk away are Via Roma, the vibrant hub of Turin’s shopping scene, and Corso Vittorio Emanuele II, the city’s main thoroughfare leading to the River Po and Valentino Park.

From our hotel, you can easily reach on foot the city’s main attractions: the Egyptian Museum, the Cathedral with the Holy Shroud, the Mole Antonelliana (home to the National Cinema Museum), as well as the most important historic buildings such Palazzo Reale, Palazzo Madama, and Palazzo Carignano — not to forget Turin’s most iconic squares and streets.

Our History

In the heart of Turin, the Hotel Roma e Rocca Cavour occupies a historic mid-19th century building overlooking Piazza Carlo Felice and extending to Piazza Pietro Paleocapa. It began as a small inn with four rooms on the first floor, originally named “Locanda alla Rocca di Cavour.” It was 1854, between the First and Second Wars of Independence, when Mr. Giacomo Garrone rented the premises for 2,000 Lire per year. Much has changed since then, but the management has always remained within the same family.

In 1870, following the Capture of Rome, the hotel changed its name to “Roma e Rocca Cavour,” and in 1911, in preparation for the Universal Exhibition, it became a Grand Hotel— the first in Turin to feature an elevator, symbolizing modernity and innovation. Over the years, it has hosted many illustrious guests, including the
Cairoli brothers, Achille Ratti (the future Pope Pius XI), Guido Gozzano, and Cesare Pavese, who stayed there in 1950. The hotel has borne witness to numerous important historical events.

During World War II, the building was damaged by aerial bombings. On December 8, 1942, incendiary bombs struck the structure, damaging the café at the corner of Piazza Carlo Felice and Piazza Paleocapa. Fortunately, the damage was limited, and repairs were completed by the summer of 1944.

Today, Hotel Roma e Rocca Cavour blends the elegance of the past with modern comforts, offering guests a unique experience in the heart of Turin, where history, tradition, and hospitality come together to create a charming and comfortable atmosphere.

Sustainability

At Hotel Roma e Rocca Cavour, sustainability is not just an idea, but a concrete commitment involving the entire structure. We are aiming for a plastic-free stay: single-use bottles have been replaced with refillable dispensers with ecological products, and in common areas, filtered water dispensers help reduce the use of plastic bottles. Guests can take the water carafes and glasses to their room.

All bulbs are LED, lighting is managed by motion sensors, and electronic devices automatically go into standby to reduce consumption. Every guest is an active part of this commitment: in the rooms, by hanging the card provided, guests can choose to skip daily cleaning and save up to 40 liters of water and detergents.

Sustainability also extends to food choices: the Hotel collaborates with the Mercato Itinerante, a Turin-based initiative that delivers seasonal fruit and vegetables in reusable and zero-impact packaging, using cargo bikes. This supports local producers and promotes a circular economy attentive to the environment.
