The small Inn "Locanda alla Rocca Cavour" is born
In the heart of Turin, the Hotel Roma e Rocca Cavour occupies a historic mid-19th century building overlooking Piazza Carlo Felice, with a side view of Piazza Pietro Paleocapa. It started as a small inn with 4 rooms on the first floor under the name "Locanda alla Rocca di Cavour."

1854
1854

It was 1854, between the First and Second Wars of Independence, when Mr. Giacomo Garrone rented the premises for 2,000 Lire per year. Since then, many things have changed, but not the management, which has always remained in the same family.

1870

The name change to Roma e Rocca Cavour

In 1870, on the occasion of the capture of Rome, the hotel changed its name to "Roma e Rocca Cavour." In 1911, in anticipation of the Universal Exposition, it became the Grand Hotel, one of the first hotels in the city to be equipped with an elevator, a symbol of modernity and innovation.

In addition to hosting many illustrious figures, including the Cairoli brothers, Achille Ratti (future Pope Pius XI), Guido Gozzano, and Cesare Pavese, who stayed there in 1950, the hotel has witnessed numerous significant historical events.

The damages during World War II

During World War II, the building suffered damage due to air raids. On December 8, 1942, some incendiary bombs hit the structure, damaging the café located at the corner of Piazza Carlo Felice and Piazza Paleocapa. Fortunately, the damage was limited, and repairs were completed in the summer of 1944.

Today
 - Our commitment to sustainability

Our commitment to sustainability

At Hotel Roma e Rocca Cavour, sustainability is not just an idea, but a concrete commitment that involves the entire structure. The approach is plastic-free: single-use bottles have been eliminated in favor of refillable dispensers with eco-friendly products, and filtered water dispensers are available in common areas to reduce the use of plastic bottles. Guests can serve themselves using carafes and glass cups, which can also be brought to their rooms.

All light bulbs are LED, the lighting is managed by motion sensors, and electronic devices automatically go into standby mode to reduce energy consumption. Every guest is an active part of this commitment: in the rooms, guests can choose, by displaying the card provided, to forgo daily cleaning, saving up to 40 liters of water and cleaning products.

Sustainability also extends to food choices: the hotel collaborates with the "Mercato Itinerante," a Turin-based initiative that delivers seasonal fruits and vegetables in reusable, zero-impact packaging via cargo bike. The short supply chain is a choice that supports local producers and ensures freshness.

This is how local producers are supported, and a circular economy that cares for the environment is promoted.
